Tower Barrel
Tower Barrel
A 3 person standing depth, sculptural-grade solid wood barrel
for cold plunging and hot soaking with stainless ladder.
Includes the Nordsprings Spring Water System.
Built by hand in Texas on the East side of Austin, the Nordsprings Solid Wood Barrels are sculpture-grade pieces designed to bring nature home, in a truly immersive experience. Every piece is as diverse as the wood grain in each of the components that make up our coopered barrels.
The unique feeling and softness of sitting in natural wood filled with crisp and clear water is nothing short of transportive. For thousands of years the healing, relaxing, and restorative powers of natural springs have been known around the world. The Nordsprings Solid Wood Barrels strive to faithfully replicate that experience at home, with natural sustainable materials and practices.
Experience
We believe in creating spaces where people can gather, reconnect, and feel the calmness of nature. The Nordsprings Spring is more than a vessel for water and people — it’s a place where time can slow down, where every dip is a journey back to nature, and where the simple act of soaking becomes a restoring ritual.
Like a bird's nest or spider's web in a tree, this barrel is made with focused intention and care at every level. We hand select and refine uniquely sourced thermo treated hemlock for its beauty, resilience, and longevity - each board is held and worked on dozens of times by hand. The barrel is held together by custom designed stainless steel bands that apply thousands of pounds of pressure, eliminating the need for any glue.
The Tower is tall and deep, with room for up to three people able to fully stand submerged in water. A sturdy and substantial custom designed stainless steel ladder and wooden platform is paired with the tower for easy ascent and access. At 1.7m ≈ 5.5 ft tall and 1.2m ≈ 4ft across it’s a unique shape allowing you to fully float without touching the floor or walls. This barrel holds 1,900 liters ≈ 500 gallons of water.
Inspiration
The time honored practices of bathing, soaking, and healing qualities of thermal cycling known around the world are the driving forces behind the creation of the Nordsprings Spring. In an era where fast and over complicated are the focus, we strive for slow and simple.
Each Nordsprings Spring holds more than water — it holds the story of the hands that shaped it, the forests that grew it, and the centuries of wisdom that inspired it. It is a tribute to mindful living, to the beauty of simple things done with care, and to the timeless bond between people and the natural world.
We imagine a place where the world washes away, and the only sound you hear is the gentle ripple of water and birds chirping. Fully immersed in a calming space for you to unwind, unravel, and let go. This is the experience of the Nordsprings Spring — a handmade barrel designed to drop you into peace and a connection with nature.
